CHRISTMAS LIGHTS UPDATE FROM CLONMELLON COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the SIX people who volunteered to help install the Christmas Lights. Although this wasn't enough manpower to complete the work in a short amount of time, we really appreciate the offer.
We have been lucky enough to have been given monetary donations from some local groups and private contributors that add up to half the amount we need to pay a contractor to put up the lights. This, along with the kind offer of a cherry picker from Allied Waste & Recycling and money we raised earlier in the year gets us closer to our target. This still leaves a shortfall of approximately €2,000. However, if we get support from everyone in Clonmellon for our forthcoming fundraising venture it will mean we should have enough to pay the full bill and work will hopefully begin next week.
We are delighted to be launching our Christmas Snowflake Decoration at the Christmas Fayre on Friday, 29th November at 5.00p.m. We are asking every household in the village to buy a Snowflake as we do not want to be left with a debt in January. Keep an eye out for where they can be purchased. #LightUpClonmellon #ChristmasSnowflake #ChristmasFayre
Steven McKenna and Alan James of Clonmellon Community Radio were streaming live from the men's shed on Sunday, September 22nd for the Annual Potato festival. The festival is organised and run annually by the Clonmellon Community Council. They had many visitors to the shed and also went roaming through the square interviewing some of the stallholders and members of the public. There are many of the podcasts available on Clonmelloncommunityradio.com website.
This event takes many months and a lot of time and dedication to organise and we wish to say a heart felt Thank You to all the unsung heroes who work tirelessly in the background to make this event the huge success that it has become. Thank you to Arnas at IADS for our beautiful banner.
